Building Applications for the 21st Century
What is it: A live, FREE, interactive Regcast you can take part in from your PC
When is it: 2nd December 2008, 2pm (GMT)
Join The Register and industry experts for a live online event exploring the challenges facing organisations as they seek to develop applications for the 21st Century.
We'll be examining the potential benefits and pitfalls of the application platform layer versus the technology stack approach and trying to understand how to deliver the business benefits required, irrespective of the approach.
Leading the day's proceedings will be veteran Reg broadcaster Tim Phillips. Alongside him on the couch we'll have industry experts and independent analysts from Freeform Dynamics who, amongst other things, will deliver the findings from the recent research we've just undertaken.
You will be able to grill the experts, in conjunction with Tim Phillips, live during the event and get answers to your pressing questions on these issues.
What will you learn:
The event will also explore how to manage a set of capabilities that can be shared between applications - like workflow capabilities, content management, identity management and such like. They'll look at the obvious buy-not-build benefits (think cost, risk, usability and so on), the advantages to be had from consistency across application provisioning, improved back-end integration and better implementation of policy.
We will also look to tackle:
- Which of these advantages are being realised, by whom and how?
- What are the architectural and operational requirements to be met for the platform to work?
- What do organisations need to do in order to best benefit from the promise of the application platform, and where can they come unstuck?
How can you get involved:
For those of you that join us live, you'll be able to grill the speakers live and get responses to your pressing questions.
Registration will only take a couple of minutes, and won't cost you a thing - just complete the form on the right. Hope to see you there.
This event has now finished, however we'll be making an on-demand version available soon. Register below, and we'll let you know once it's available
